Horton’s Rookie of the Year case really can’t get much stronger at this point, and he’s the easy choice for me. What an incredible turn, given that it was only a little over a month ago when it was sensible to start nudging national folks to pay attention to Horton’s case.
Heck, in the National League, there are just a handful of starting pitchers with a better season-long ERA than Horton’s 2.66 (Paul Skenes, Chris Sale, and Freddy Peralta (by 0.01)). It isn’t inconceivable that Horton could receive a down-the-ballot Cy Young vote or two.
