ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Jewish Home is trying to improve the quality of life for people with dementia and those with memory loss by opening a new center, “The Clare & Jerry Rotenberg Center for Excellence in Dementia Care.”
The Jewish Home offers various levels of care such as independent living, skilled nursing, and more services within the community. Their website says they help older adults “live their best lives.”
Jewish Home leaders say the new dementia center will offer innovative programs, education, training, and resource navigation, and support families and caregivers of people with dementia and memory loss.
Clare Rotenberg, who founded the Clare & Jerry Rotenberg Institute on Aging in 2022 with Jerry Rotenberg, says when someone contacts the Jewish Home and tells them they have a loved one with dementia, they will be immediately connected to a navigator from the dementia center who will help them through their journey.
There will be a kickoff for the center on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. at the Dryden Theatre at the George Eastman Museum.
Jewish Home leaders will share the vision for the dementia center and share guidance on the dementia journey. Keynote speaker Ashley Williams will share the story about her mother’s dementia story as well.
