Since the Steam Deck brought PC gaming on to go, the gaming handheld market has been all the rage, and Xbox's offering is shaping up to be one of the best in the business.
ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X explained
In June's Xbox Games Showcase, Xbox finally announced the existence of its handheld console, or rather, it announced two of them.
The base ROG Xbox Ally comes with an AMD Ryzen Z2 A CPU, 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage, while the more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X comes with an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme CPU, 24GB RAM and 1TB of storage.
These are Xbox versions of the already existing Asus ROG Ally line of handheld consoles, with both Xbox versions marking slight upgrades on their predecessors in terms of specs.
It had been suggested that the consoles will launch in the holiday season, which typically means around November or December, but it appears Microsoft had other plans.
ROG Xbox Ally price – how much will it cost?
While the prices of both consoles haven't been confirmed yet, we can estimate how much they will both cost thanks to the existing ROG Ally handhelds.
Therefore, we would expect that the ROG Xbox Ally would cost at least £600/$650 and the ROG Xbox Ally X to cost at least £800/$800.
That being said, both consoles represent slight improvements on their original counterparts, meaning unless Asus is willing to cut the price of its existing handhelds, the new ROG Xbox Ally consoles may retail at a higher price.
