Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said the government is prioritizing the pharmaceutical industry in line with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s directives to localize drug production using advanced technologies and partnerships with global firms.
At a meeting on Sunday, September 14, 2025, with ministers and other senior officials, Madbouly stressed the need to ensure stable supplies of medicines and medical equipment, support local manufacturing, and expand exports, particularly to African markets.
He called for regular reviews to secure safe stock levels and sustain funding for drug production, including raw materials and payments to pharma companies.
The meeting also discussed efforts by the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) to meet international quality standards and attract foreign investment to the health sector.
