When No. 19 Alabama hosts the Wisconsin Badgers this Saturday, it seems as though the Badgers will be without their starting quarterback.
Wisconsin quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. sprained his knee against the Miami RedHawks in Wisconsin’s season opener and has been considered week-to-week since. According to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Edwards will travel with the team to Tuscaloosa but is “unlikely to play.”
According to Thamel, backup quarterback Danny O’Neil has been preparing to start against the Crimson Tide. O’Neil started the last game for Wisconsin against Middle Tennessee and had some success. He completed 23 of his 27 passing attempts for 283 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception.

Alabama is coming off a dominant win against Louisiana-Monroe, 73-0, and will look to keep the momentum rolling. Ty Simpson was perfect against UL Monroe, completing all 17 passes he attempted for 226 yards and 3 touchdowns. Simpson’s favorite target, Germie Bernard, will look to have another big game for the Tide after catching 3 passes for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns in their game against LA-Monroe.
Freshman running back AK Dear was also great against UL Monroe, rushing 5 times for 76 yards and a touchdown.
According to BetMGM, Alabama is favored by 20.5 points against Wisconsin. After their season-opening loss, Alabama will look to stay in the win column ahead of its matchup with Georgia next week.
Kickoff for Wisconsin at Alabama is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Sept. 13.
