Authorities have publicly identified two San Diego-area residents who lost their lives over the last week in traffic crashes.
Shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, 46-year-old Alfredo Trevino of Vista lost control of the motorcycle he was riding on state Route 79 in Julian, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
The southbound two-wheeler veered into oncoming traffic near Harrison Park Road and collided with an SUV, fatally injuring Trevino, the agency reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
On Labor Day, a pileup on a thoroughfare in Santee fatally injured a man who lived in that city, the medical examiner reported. Curtis Van Atta Jr., 50, was driving a sedan that collided with other vehicles and struck a utility pole in the 8900 block of Carlton Hills Boulevard shortly after 11 a.m. on Sept 1.
Paramedics took Van Atta to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he was pronounced dead two days later.
