AUSTIN (KXAN) - Ten people are facing criminal charges in connection with a widespread gas pump skimming and fuel theft operation that stretched across Texas and into other states.
According to the Texas Financial Crimes Intelligence Center (FCIC), the investigation began in 2023 and remains ongoing. Special agents uncovered a sophisticated criminal network accused of designing, manufacturing, and distributing card skimming devices targeting fuel pumps.
Two card skimmers found at Austin WalmartInvestigators say the suspects didn’t just carry out skimming operations themselves, they also trained others and supplied devices across Texas and beyond.
Several of the ten suspects are in custody, while others remain at large. Charges include Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Unlawful Interception of Electronic Communications.
