A brush fire in a neighborhood near Lake Jennings prompted evacuations and damaged structures Monday as ground and airborne crews worked to quell the flames.
The blaze erupted shortly before 3 p.m. off the 13300 block of Los Coches Road East in the Glenview area, just west of Interstate 8 and north of El Cajon, according to Cal Fire.
Within a half-hour, the flames had blackened about 10 acres and damaged at least two structures, said Mike Cornette, a fire captain with the state agency.
Officials cleared people out of an area bounded by the freeway to the south and west, Los Coches Road to the east and Business Route 8 to the north.
