ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Temperatures are running in the middle 60s today and will be falling into the 40s at night. As a result, it feels more like a preview of the month of October. However, do not turn on the heat just yet. The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists anticipate that summer will rally in the coming days. As a high-pressure system slowly moves east, this will bring a more southerly wind and consequently warm our temperatures back into middle to upper 70s by Tuesday and Wednesday.
In addition, this weather pattern will bring an extended period of dry weather for Western New York. Considering that much of the area is still listed as being in a moderate drought, this will continue to stress what is left of the growing season and the ground water level. The earliest chance for any rain is probably not for another seven or eight days.
