After last weekend’s dud of a performance against Ohio State, No. 7 Texas opened Saturday’s game against San Jose State with back-to-back punts and things started to get weird in Austin. Well, weirder.
The Spartans then decided to play the role of gracious guests.
First, quarterback Arch Manning hit Parker Livingstone for an 83-yard touchdown. On the next play from scrimmage, San Jose State threw an interception and gave the ball right back to Texas.
Manning hit Livingstone 5 plays later to put the Horns up 14-0.
On the second play of San Jose State’s next possession, the Spartans fumbled the football. Ty’Anthony Smith forced and recovered the fumble to set the UT offense back up at the San Jose State 36.
Manning hit tight end Jack Endries down the seam on the first play of the drive for a 36-yard touchdown.

— Texas Football (@TexasFootball) September 6, 2025On San Jose State’s ensuing drive, the Spartans were sacked on a second-and-8 play and then fumbled it again on third down. Anthony Hill forced the ball loose. Trey Moore scooped it up and returned it to the 1-yard-line.
Texas scored on second-and-goal but a chop block backed the Longhorns up 15 yards and took the score off the board.
No matter. Manning found Endries on the next play for a 16-yard touchdown — his fourth passing touchdown of the first half.
Okay, make that 4 TD passes on his last 5 attempts for Arch Manning for @TexasFootball.And again, it's tight end Jack Endries. pic.twitter.com/gGMlXP5UTT
— Glenn Naughton (@JetsPicks) September 6, 2025Endries’ second touchdown reception was Manning’s fifth straight completion. Four of the 5 went for touchdowns.
Manning completed just 17 of his 30 pass attempts in Week 1. He threw for 170 yards with 1 score and 1 pick. He totaled 180 passing yards on his first 14 throws against San Jose State on Saturday.
