ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A new executive order will allow people to get a COVID vaccine directly from their pharmacist.
Gov. Kathy Hochul signed an executive order Friday allowing pharmacists to prescribe and give out COVID vaccines for New Yorkers wishing to be vaccinated, that will be in place for atleast 30 days.
Just last month, the Food and Drug Administration approved updated COVID vaccines, but limited who could get them.

In a statement, Hochul said by signing this order, she is ensuring that “New Yorkers can still get the care they need, close to home, from trusted providers in their own communities.”
“I promised New Yorkers that their family would be my fight,” said Hochul.
