Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Freestyle specialist Corinne Hayes, a native of Denver, Colorado, has committed to swim and study at St. Bonaventure University, beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. She trains year-round with Denver Swim Academy and attends Chaparral High School.
Hayes confirmed the commitment in an email to SwimSwam, and provided the following quote:
I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to St. Bonaventure University in order to continue my academic and athletic pursuits. I want to thank my family, friends and coaches (Nick, Kevan, Annie, and Dom) for their support. Thank you Coach Mike for this opportunity! Go Bonnies!!!
The future Bonnie competed at the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) 5A State Championships in February, where she took on the 200 and 500 free. She touched the wall sixth in the 200 at 1:55.09 and seventh in the 500 at 5:10.40, in addition to contributing splits of 24.44 and 54.30 on the 12th- and 15th-place 200 and 400 free relays.
Hayes wrapped up her short course season at the Speedo Sectionals in Austin at the end of March, where she competed in the 50 through the 1650 free, in addition to the 100 fly. Her highest finish came in the 1000 free, where she hit the wall 11th in a personal-best 10:17.81. She also nabbed PBs in the 1650 free, taking 23rd in 17:26.45, and the 500 free, where she captured 28th. Leading off the 400 free relay that finished 47th, she posted a best time of 53.73.
In her other events, she finished 153rd in the 50 free with a 25.62, touched 48th in the 200 free at 1:54.76, and placed 120th in the 100 fly going 1:01.96. On the remaining relays, she split 1:56.39 on the 800 free relay that took 187th, contributed a 53.63 freestyle leg to the 400 medley relay that finished 38th, and led off the 200 free relay with a 24.94 split as the team secured 53rd.

Her times in the 200 free, 200 fly, and 100 free would have placed her third, third, and eighth, respectively.
Freshman Phoebe McClaren led the way in the 500 (4:56.80) and 1650 free (16:51.49), while sophomore Anna Forjan (1:50.76) took top honors in the 200 free. Junior Nele Vetter posted the top time in the 200 fly (2:07.58), and senior Ellie Kraus was the only swimmer under 50 seconds in the 100 free, clocking a 49.93.
At the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championships—the conference in which St. Bonaventure competes—Hayes would have finished 18th in the 1650 free with her current career best. It took a time of 17:19.25 to crack the top 16 and score. The scoring cutoffs for her other primary events were 51.54 in the 100 free, 1:52.35 in the 200 free, 4:57.76 in the 500 free, and 2:04.14 in the 200 fly.
St. Bonaventure, located in Western New York, placed 2nd out of eight teams at 2025 Atlantic 10 Championships. The Bonnies are led by Mike Smiechowski, who was named head coach for men’s and women’s swimming and diving in July 2022.
Hayes joins Ciara Dwyer and Bree Anderson in committing to the university’s class of 2030.
