POLICE REPORTS

TAMPERING WITH VEHICLE: An officer responded to the 200 block of Mendocino Drive at 1:25 a.m. Aug. 31 for a report of suspicious circumstances and arrested a 19-year-old Ukiah woman on suspicion of tampering with a vehicle, giving a false ID to an officer and violating her probation. She was booked into Mendocino County Jail.
DOLLY STOLEN: Caller in the 1100 block of North Bush Street reported at 6:49 a.m. Aug. 31 that a man stole a dolly. An officer took a report.
DRUG POSSESSION: An officer contacted a person behaving suspiciously at the corner of Elm Street and Burlington Drive at 7:09 a.m. Aug. 31 and arrested a 28-year-old Redwood Valley man on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, petty theft, vandalism and multiple failure to appear counts. He was booked into county jail.
CAMPERS: Caller on Commerce Drive reported at 9:56 a.m. Aug. 31 that people were camping in a motorhome and van. An officer responded and reported that the people were “counseled and packing up.”
FRUIT VENDOR: Caller in the 500 block of East Perkins Street reported at 11:27 a.m. Aug. 31 that someone was selling fruit in a parking lot. An officer responded and reported that the person was counseled and moving along.
PANHANDLER: Caller at McDonald’s on North Orchard Avenue reported at 12:34 p.m. Aug. 31 that a man was panhandling near the drive-thru. An officer responded and reported that the person was “counseled and moving along.”
SHOE POLISH ON SIDEWALK: Caller in the 100 block of South Orchard Avenue reported at 3:28 p.m. Aug. 31 that someone got polish on the sidewalk while polishing their shoes. An officer responded and reported that person was removing the polish.
VEHICLE HIT HYDRANT: An officer responded to the 1200 block of Airport Park Boulevard at 8:48 p.m. Aug. 31 for a report of a vehicle hitting a fire hydrant and cited a 35-year-old Lakeport man for not having a license or a required interlock device.
MAN BANGING ON DOOR: Caller in the 700 block of Waugh Lane reported at 6:03 a.m. Sept. 1 that an unknown man was banging on a door and yelling. An officer responded and arrested a 55-year-old Ukiah man for vandalism, being under the influence of a controlled substance and violating his probation. He was booked into county jail.
PANHANDLER: Caller in the 500 block of East Perkins Street reported at 1:21 p.m. Sept. 1 that someone was panhandling. An officer responded and reported that person was counseled.
DOG STOLEN: Caller in the 1100 block of South State Street reported at 2:38 p.m. Sept. 1 that a dog was stolen. An officer responded and reported that the dog was returned and no prosecution was desired.
POSSIBLE RAPE: Caller in the 700 block of El Rio Street reported at 6:42 p.m. Sept. 1 that a possible rape had occurred. An officer responded and took a report.
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.
DEATH: An officer responded to the 500 block of East Chestnut Street at 10:03 a.m. Aug. 31 and took a report of a death.
MAN DOWN: Caller in the 300 block of North Franklin Street at 3 p.m. Sept. 1 requested a welfare check on a man down in the area. An officer responded and reported that the person was given a ride home.
Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper.
