ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Yellow Alert that was posted for Thursday is over, as the storms move away. Any showers come to an end, and we’ll see a clearing sky Thursday night. Temperatures will be dropping into the upper 40s and lower 50s following our weak cold front. That being said, it’ll still be fairly mild on Friday, and likely our last mild day for a few days. Friday will start off with a mostly sunny sky, and some afternoon clouds will begin to move back in ahead of a secondary cold front. Highs should top out in the upper 70s before a few showers sneak back in by late Friday evening. It’ll also be a little breezy on Friday, with some gusts pushing 30 mph out of the southwest.
The next cold front arrives on Saturday with another chance for some showers and a good deal of clouds. With that, temperatures will hold in the mid 60s on Saturday. We may see some clearing trying to work back in by the afternoon, and the best chance of rain hanging on a little longer should be in the Finger Lakes. Sunday remains on the cooler side, but should be drier with high pressure moving back in. This means a mix of clouds and sunshine. It may be cool enough for some lake rain showers off of Lake Erie on Sunday. This will be worth watching, as there’s a chance a few of these showers could reach Orchard Park for the Bills season and home opener Sunday night. Go Bills!
High pressure moves back in for much of next week, with a nice warming trend, dry weather and a good deal of sunshine making a return. Highs will start off in the 60s on Monday, but will warm back into the 70s by Tuesday and Wednesday.
