OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) -- The Oakland Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery on Wednesday afternoon. According to OPD, the attempted robbery happened just before 3 p.m. at the FoodMaxx at 10950 International Blvd.
An armed security guard was approached by multiple armed masked individuals. OPD said these individuals demanded that the security guard put down their firearm.
"Fearing for their life," the security guard shot in the direction of the suspects, Oakland police said. No one was struck by gunfire.
The suspects then got in a vehicle and left the area. Police said the individuals in the car were armed. OPD then attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle refused to comply and continued speeding. OPD did not chase the vehicle.
An OPD helicopter was eventually able to locate the suspect vehicle in Hayward. According to police, the suspects' vehicle crashed into another vehicle on Hesperian Boulevard near Chabot College.

The vehicle description will not be released by OPD. Two of the suspects were juveniles.
"OPD is looking for at least two additional suspects in connection with the attempted robbery," the department wrote in a press release.
