ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 23-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a police investigation on Fairbanks Street Monday afternoon.
Rochester Police say at around noon Monday, they responded to a report of family trouble where someone was trying to hide a firearm. Police say during their investigation, they found a backpack with about 200 rounds of various calibers of ammunition and an Anderson Manufacturing 300 Blackout Am-15 pistol.
Lazareth Unzueta was taken into custody and brought to Monroe County Jail. He is charged with the following:
Harassment in the second degree due to actions in a domestic incident. Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. Three counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.According to police, Unzueta was arrested on January 14 on a warrant related to a shooting in November of 2024 on Central Park.
They say at the time of Unzueta’s arrest, he was found with a Glock handgun made with a switch to make it fire fully automatically, and a ghost gun. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second and third degree for having the firearms and assault in the second degree in relation to the shooting.
Police say court records show Unzueta pleaded guilty to his charges related to the shooting on June 30. He is set to be sentenced in October.
Unzueta is currently being held on a $15,000 bail or bond.
