The organisers of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games have appointed Sunbelt Rentals as rental equipment provider in preparing for the event, which will rely on temporary venues and adapted existing ones.
Los Angeles will be the first Olympics host city to avoid building any new permanent infrastructure since 1948.
Sunbelt Rentals said equipment supplied would include power, HVAC, heavy equipment, ground protection, temporary fencing, and scaffolding for the 40-plus LA28 competition venues.
The company, which has 1,400 locations across North America and 35 in the greater Los Angeles area, will deploy a dedicated team for the Games through to their conclusion.
“We’re looking forward to bringing these venues to life with our deep expertise in entertainment and sporting events and ability to execute at scale,” said the firm’s chief executive, Brendan Horgan.
Commenting on the appointment, LA28 chief executive Reynold Hoover said LA28’s goal was to “deliver a safe, circular, and efficient buildout of our competition venues”.
