Chicago police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who struck and seriously injured a man in University Village, authorities said.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., the driver of a Chevy struck a 21-year-old man and an unoccupied, parked vehicle near Halsted and Maxwell streets, police stated. The driver then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and initially said to be in critical condition.

As of Sunday evening, no one was in custody.

The Major Accidents Investigations Unit was investigating.
