WEBSTER, N.Y. — The death of Cleveland Police Officer Jamieson Ritter on July 4, 2024, has deeply affected his hometown of Webster. In his memory, his fellow high school alumni organized a 25-hour relay run fundraiser.
The relay began at 9 a.m. Thursday on the outdoor track at McQuaid Jesuit High School, where Ritter graduated in 2015. Due to rain, the race moved indoors. Athletes, coaches, and friends took turns running the track and passing the baton.
“it hurts, it hurts to have to do this cause, but, you know, you want to make the most of it in Jamieson’s honor,” said Todd Stewart, McQuaid’s head cross country coach.
The run is set to conclude Friday morning at 10 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the Jamieson Ritter Foundation.
