The strike zone was particularly awful today (often in both directions, and just so inconsistent), and Craig Counsell got himself tossed. Don’t see that too often, though it failed to provide much of a spark for the Cubs, or get the home plate ump to be better or whatnot.
Shōta Imanaga was perhaps not at his best, but mostly executed well. His defense helped him out a bit, he got hit hard on some weird pitches for the Giants to attack, and ended with a quality start over seven innings. Wasn’t enough because the Cubs didn’t put together a strong offensive day. Sounds about right.
