Working parents of children aged between nine months and four years old will be eligible for 30 hours a week of Government-funded childcare during term time.

There are around 39 weeks in term time, so this means that if the Government covered all these hours, parents would save £6,468 a year.
If the Government pays for 30 hours a week during term time, this equals savings of £7,512 a year.
If the parents are eligible for 30 hours a week of funded hours during term time, this means savings of £7,988.
Parents of children under three in England now pay less than half of last year’s cost for a part-time nursery place thanks to the previous expansion of childcare hours, when 15 hours of funded childcare were made available to them.
Who will pay more?
The Early Years Alliance said many nurseries are putting up prices for non-funded hours to compensate for the costs of the funded hours.

The cost of a full-time nursery place for a two-year-old rose from £290.77 a week to £321.03 a week this year – an increase of 10 per cent for those not eligible for funded hours.
Parents of three- and four-year-olds who are already getting the 30 hour entitlement have seen their full-time costs rise from £120.93 to £126.94 a week – a 5 per cent rise – in the past year. This represents an increase of £234 during term time – and more if parents rely on childcare outside of term.
Nurseries are also raising the cost of meals, nappies, trips and other extras by at least 10 per cent.
These charges must be voluntary under Government guidance but will still affect parents who rely on them.
