After failing to make the Arizona Cardinals 53-man roster, former quarterback Clayton Tune and running back DeeJay Dallas have found new NFL homes. Tune is reportedly signing with the Green Bay Packers practice squad while Dallas is reportedly headed to the Carolina Panthers practice squad.
Tune, 26, was a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and went on to be Arizona’s third-string quarterback that year before getting elevated to the backup role last season behind Kyler Murray. Tune made his one lone start as a rookie and has 23 total pass attempts to his name. His most relevant role was in quarterback sneak packages, Arizona’s version of “The Tush Push” in Philly, which ultimately was not nearly as successful.
Without Tune, the Cardinals are expected to roster just two quarterbacks. Veteran Jacoby Brissett was brought in to add more reliability to the No. 2 slot on the depth chart. Arizona, however, will surely look to add a somewhat noteworthy name to the practice squad, where it would have hoped to place Tune.

Dallas joined the Cardinals after four years with the Seattle Seahawks, making a name for himself as a special teams mainstay that did the most of his damage on kick return duty. In Arizona, Dallas ran his first-ever kick back for a touchdown and retuned a total of 15 for 459 yards. Wide receiver Greg Dortch is expected to take over those duties.
The running back room surprisingly did not include Dallas as a special teams body or Michael Carter, who continued to flash as a ball carrier. Instead, Bam Knight got the nod behind James Conner, Trey Benson and Emari Demercado.
Arizona was able to re-sign 13 players to its practice squad that didn’t make the roster, including Carter.
