The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office recently introduced two new deputies who graduated from the police academy this month, and congratulated four Mendocino County Jail inmates who recently received their high school diplomas.
According to the MCSO, new deputies Parker Del Fiorentino and Santiago Olea Vargas attended the basic police academy at the Santa Rosa Junior College after being recruited by the MCSO, and both men graduated last week with 25 other people who completed the 20-week training course at the Public Safety Training Center campus in Windsor.
After being sworn in as deputies, the men will “begin their assignments and training at the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office,” Mendocino County Sheriff Matt Kendall reported in a Facebook post.
Earlier this month, the MCSO announced that four people currently serving sentences at the Mendocino County Jail recently earned their high school diplomas through its educational partnership with Ukiah Adult School.
According to the MCSO, Soyria Ethel Ramos, Christopher Robert Ashurst, Antonio Lopez Jr, and Michael Charles McGee all earned their diplomas through “dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to their education. Achieving this milestone is no small feat, and we celebrate their determination to create new opportunities for their future,” Kendall and the MCSO note, adding that: “In collaboration with Ukiah Adult School, Mendocino County Jail remains committed to providing educational opportunities for those involved in the justice system. Seeing individuals reach their goals reminds us why this work matters.”
