DENVER (KDVR) — Some residents in Parker have been told to shelter in place while there are police in the area of Cottonwood and Canterberry Crossing neighborhoods on Tuesday morning.

At 7 a.m., the Douglas County Sheriff's Office issued two shelter-in-place orders in the area of Maple Crest Drive and Clover Meadow Lane and Blackwolf Drive and Canterberry Trail in Parker due to police activity in the area.

This is southeast of the Cottonwood neighborhood and in the Canterberry Crossing neighborhood.

People in the area are asked to go inside immediately and stay inside until further notice. The shelter-in-place order said to lock all doors and not to let anyone inside homes or businesses.

A spokesperson for the sheriff's office told FOX31 that there is law enforcement activity at both locations, and it's part of an "ongoing investigation." Since it's still an active investigation, the sheriff's office said it couldn't provide more details at this time.

The sheriff's office said to call 911 if there is an emergency, and residents will be contacted when the event is resolved.
