News by : (EGYPT INDEPENDENT) -

China’s Ambassador in Cairo Liao Liqiang said that Chinese companies have successfully completed Egypt’s first fully integrated photovoltaic (PV) energy storage project, with a capacity of 300 megawatt-hours, in Aswan Governorate.

The project was fully connected to and operational on the national grid within just 60 days, two months ahead of schedule, he said. Liao added, in a statement on Monday, August 25, 2025, that the project includes a 500-megawatt photovoltaic power station and can provide reliable clean energy support in high-temperature environments and under unstable grid conditions. He noted that the project successfully bridges the gap in large-scale energy storage applications on Egypt’s power grid by integrating an energy storage system. The diplomat explained that the project demonstrates broad recognition of Chinese companies’ technology and their ability to set benchmarks in the international new energy sector, stressing that this achievement highlights China’s important role in advancing green development and the global energy transition.
