ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A big trough over the Great Lakes will allow somewhat cool and unsettled weather to persist through much of this week. Any showers from Monday will fade away and the sky will clear Monday night, allowing temperatures to fall into the lower half of the 50s away from Lake Ontario. Much like Monday, we’ll see sunshine to start the day, with clouds filling in as the sun heats the ground. Some scattered rain showers will fire up late morning into the early afternoon, before fizzling. Wednesday morning may be the most fall-like period of the week, with temperatures in the lower 50s and lake effect rain showers to start the day. Some waterspouts may also be possible early Wednesday.

Temperatures will begin to warm back through the 70s on Wednesday and Thursday, but another cold front will move in late Thursday, with another shot of showers and perhaps a few storms. This will be followed by another round of cool air, with temperatures in the 60s on Friday, along with a few more scattered showers.

While the Labor Day weekend may be a little cooler than average in the temperature department, it is looking pretty good for outdoor plans. We’ll see a mix of clouds and sun, and just the slight chance of a pop up shower. Meanwhile, temperatures will rebound back into the 70s. So, still cooler than average, and maybe not warm beach weather, but it should be comfortable for anybody spending the weekend outdoors.
