Afghanistan cricket team has announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 which will be held from September 9 onwards. Earlier on August 5, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) had announced a 22-member preliminary squad. The ACB named Rashid Khan as captain for the Asia Cup. He was leading Afghanistan when they last played a T20I in December 2024. Rahmanullah Gurbaz will be his deputy vice-captain.

“Prior to the Asia Cup, AfghanAtalan will also face the hosts UAE and Pakistan in a T20I Tri-Nation Series, starting this Friday in Sharjah, which will feature most of the 22-member preliminary squad,” the ACB said.
