Joey Logano isn’t just a NASCAR winner — he’s making a difference off the track, too.
The three-time Cup Series champion started the Joey Logano Foundation in 2013, years before he lifted his first Bill France Cup.
For Logano, the reason has always been simple: there’s more to being a professional athlete than what you achieve in your sport.
The Joey Logano Foundation, according to its website, “invests in organizations offering second chances to children and young adults during times of crisis and works to inspire others to live a life of generosity.”
That emphasis on foster care hits close to home for the Logano family, as he explained in the latest episode of NBC’s “My New Favorite Driver.”
“Foster care is really our main mission with the Joey Logano Foundation,” he said in an interview with NBC. “It’s something that my wife’s mom has gone through, on my wife’s side of the family, they’ve fostered kids before. It’s something my wife and I have talked about many, many times as we’ve explored that as well. We just have a huge heart for kids who have been put through the ringer.

“How scary must that be as a child to be, ‘Where am I going? What am I doing? What happened to mom and dad?’ You can’t throw money at this and just see a fix. It just doesn’t happen that way — it’s a long-term investment. You have to be willing to invest into these individuals and you, over time, see what they become. There’s some incredible people that we work with, great organizations that really are making a hug difference. We love just supporting them and helping out where we can.”
Logano’s organization jumps in with funding and volunteers to help groups that are already making a difference. These partnerships bring experiences to the next level for children in need.
Since 2013, the Joey Logano Foundation has invested over $6 million in various organizations across the country to support children and young adults during difficult times in their lives. The foundation has impacted more than 250,000 children and young adults.
“They got the fire going already, we just dumped the fuel on it,” Logano said of the groups they partner with. “We have the ability to bring light, eyes to what they are doing, money to what they are doing, and we can help it explode. We can really help it become something. That’s where the Joey Logano Foundation really steps in — to do the homework and find the people that are already doing good things, just give them a little bit of help along the way.”
One specific partnership that has blown up in recent years is the JL Kids Crew. This special experience brings select children to the race track to see Logano at work.
The kids in need meet with Logano, wearing custom JL firesuits, and help the team get his No. 22 Ford ready for the race. Logano then meets with the kids after the race, which they get to watch for a suite, and they receive merchandise to bring home — making it a full day of action.
“We have the JL Kids Crew, where we bring kids that have gone through some stuff in their life — whether it’s health or just life stuff,” Logano said. “And we try to give them the coolest experience at the race track. We make them a part of the team for the day.
“All that cool stuff when you’re able to share that experience with kids that have never had an experience like that before, even just going to the race track. When you win, they’re in victory lane, put the winner sticker on your car. Little stuff, but in their world it’s huge. Memories they’ll have forever.”
The JL Kids Crew typically only happens a few times per season, but Logano might want to expand that program given his recent run of success.
With the kids in attendance, Logano won three straight outings — Texas Motor Speedway in 2025 and Atlanta Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2024. His winning streak finally came to an end with the kids at his race in Atlanta in July, but he did start first in that race. They’ll be back at the track in Las Vegas this October.
“There’s a lot of great things about being an athlete, but that’s probably one of the coolest parts is to have the ability to change people’s lives in a positive way,” Logano said. “It’s something that everyone can get behind. I don’t care who you are, people have hearts for kids, right? I don’t care what your political beliefs are, what your religious beliefs are — most good people are wanting to help a young kid that needs help.”
