Coach Prime is heading into Year 3 in Boulder, and his standard is set.
Deion Sanders continues to keep the bar high for his players both on and off the field.
He recently went viral for his speech about dress code expectations when his players go to class. Life as a student-athlete is already demanding, and Sanders wants to make sure his kids show up prepared and presentable to take full advantage.
“No slides,” Sanders said bluntly. “If I see you with ’em, I’m gonna send people to campus tomorrow. If I see you with slides on campus, it’s going to be a problem.
“If I see you with a hoodie on (up) in class with some headphones on in class, it’s gonna be a problem. If I see you sitting in the back of the classroom, it’s gonna be a problem. Do we understand that?
“And if you’re online — if you have online classes — and you don’t have a shirt on, if you have a ‘wife beater’ on, or have something stupid on that’s causing a distraction or you’re walking around during that online session, it’s gonna be a problem. We good with that, guys?”
Sanders himself once famously said, “If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good.”
He wants his players to carry themselves to a high standard whether that’s on Folsom Field or in the classroom. No exceptions.
As he heads into his third season as the head coach of the Buffaloes, Sanders is going to have to do something he has never done before during his time at Colorado.
And that’s to coach a game without his son Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.
Sanders and Hunter were one of the nation’s best duos in the sport over the past two seasons. Sanders won numerous awards for his play at quarterback, while Hunter was the most dominant player in college football last season, taking home the Heisman Trophy Award.
Both players are now in the NFL, so Coach Prime has had to retool his roster.

Sanders had a cancerous tumor in his bladder that had to be surgically removed. He had his entire bladder removed to get the tumor out. The surgery was a success and he was declared cancer free a few months back.
His attention and focus has now been on getting the 2025 Colorado Buffaloes to the next level and that starts August 29th against the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets under the lights at Folsom Field.
It won’t be an easy opener.
