Proton, the company behind Proton Mail, Proton VPN, and Proton Pass today announces the release of Lumo 1.1, the latest version of the company’s private AI chatbot. Arriving just one month after its initial launch, Lumo 1.1 represents a significant improvement of the app’s performance, giving users a more capable AI assistant with improved web search and more thorough, enhanced answers to their queries.
Hot on the heels of Lumo’s launch in July 2025 and leveraging feedback from the Proton community, the company has been busy making model improvements adding additional GPUs. Lumo 1.1 performs significantly better across the board than the first version of Lumo and demonstrates Proton’s commitment to rapid enhancements to best serve its community of over 100 million users.
Lumo is a private AI assistant that only works for users, not the other way around.
