SOME Verizon customers have blasted a recent change that could make canceling a phone plan even more challenging.
It comes amid several adjustments from the telecommunications giant in recent months, including the removal of a popular perk.

“You can no longer click disconnect line, there’s a mandatory pop up to call in or chat.”
They claimed that, previously, Verizon customers who managed their business plan through a portal on the company’s website could click and cancel phone lines without talking to staff.
Except, this has changed, according to the Redditor, requiring those who want to cancel to call customer service or chat with a representative online.
“If you try and chat using the automated system, and choose disconnect, it takes you back to the disconnect page which no longer works because of the d**n popup,” the Verizon customer continued.
“My choices are wait on chat hold for 20 mins or call in be harassed as to why you are cancelling.”
It’s unclear if this is a permanent addition across Verizon’s portal or only for those who have a business plan.
The US Sun has contacted Verizon for more information.
PERK PUNTED
A few customers were also left fuming this summer after they received notices from Verizon that select loyalty discounts were being taken away.
“Just got sent an email it seems many of you got as well, that my loyalty discount of $20 and $10 per line are being discontinued Sept. 1,” a longtime Verizon member wrote in a separate Reddit thread.
“And they still have no plans to change this?”
“I had to change my plans because my ‘old’ plan from 2023 was no longer eligible to keep autopay discounts of $10/line,” another added.
Verizon confirmed that the loyalty discounts were being discontinued for only a few specific and older plans.
“A small number of customers have been contacted about expirations to legacy discounts on their mobile accounts,” a spokesperson told The US Sun in an email.

They added that “customers can view and manage their account at any time” through the Verizon web portal.
PRICING PAINS
Costs at Verizon have also spiked for some members.
Those who have five or more lines on certain plans were affected, along with those still using the New Verizon Plans, which are no longer available.
In February, those with five or more lines on the myPlan accounts saw a $3 monthly uptick per line.
With a multi-phone line account, the rate went up $15 every month.
Data fees also increased from $15 to $20 per gigabyte.
“We can confirm we’ve adjusted pricing on some mobile plans for select customers,” Verizon told The US Sun at the time.
“Verizon is committed to delivering unparalleled network reliability, experiences and choices our customers love and expect.”
“These price adjustments allow us to continue to provide our customers top-tier products and services, with a focus on ultra-reliable connectivity,” a spokesperson added.
AT&T customers also only have until November 18 to file a claim and get up to $5,000 from a data breach settlement.
T-Mobile also rolled out three new “perk-packed” plans this summer.
