But that isn’t new. The ICC has made such mistakes several times. In 2023, a glitch showed that India were the number one ranked team in the world in all formats when that wasn’t the case at all. But since the rumours regarding Rohit and Kohli’s potential retirement were swirling around, fans chose to presume it’s the end for them.
A couple of hours later, the ICC corrected their mistakes. Rohit was back at number two, with a potential chance of overtaking Shubman Gill as the number one ODI batter against Australia in October. Kohli, who has been in the top 10 since 2010, returned as well.
