Arkansas natives Brody Hutchins and Carson Gillum are both committed to Ouachita Baptist University’s class of 2029 and they plan to room together from Day 1.
Brody Hutchins – Benton, AR – Bryant High School – BASS Swim Team
“I’d like to announce my verbal commitment to OBU to continue my athletic and academic career. I’d like to thank my family, teammates, coaches, and God for allowing me to be where I am today. I am very grateful for everyone who has pushed me towards my goal of competing on the college level and I hope to do big things moving foward as a Tigershark. Go Tigers ”
Hutchins swam for Bryant High School and was a team record-holder in the 50 free, 100 free, and 400 free relay. He placed 3rd in the 100 free (48.98) and 5th in the 50 free (23.04) at the 2025 Arkansas 6A State Championship. He went lifetime bests in those same events at the conference meet, clocking in at 48.95 and 22.50.
The following month, Hutchins swam PBs in the 200 free (1:52.15), 100 back (57.16), and 100 fly (56.60) at the BASS Lucky Charm Invite.

Gillum swam for Little Rock Central High School at the 2025 Arkansas 6A State Championship, coming in 11th in the 100 free with a PB of 53.01. In club swimming, he represents Arkansas Dolphins and specializes in sprints. He clocked his best 50 free time this spring at the Region VIII Summer Sectionals with a time trial of 24.21.
