Tonight’s double-header conclusion has been postponed by the storms hitting the Chicago area, and will be played tomorrow as part of a new double-header.

— Wrigley Field (@ofcwrigleyfield) August 18, 2025I am mostly joking in the headline about how bad the Cubs looked in game one today, but it really could help them ever-so-slightly to have an extra day for the double-header, since Cade Horton left today’s game one early. The Cubs weren’t exactly set to be short-handed, but they did have to have four relievers cover the rest of the game. All else equal, you’d prefer not to do that in game one of a double-header.
So they’ll do the roster dance again tomorrow. Jameson Taillon still figures to start one of the games, and it’s possible Jordan Wicks will be joining the roster in some capacity:
I’m told that LHP Jordan Wicks is en route to Chicago. No word on if or when he’d be activated. But Wicks, who would give the Cubs an option soon, has pitched really well for Iowa.
— Tommy Birch (@TommyBirch) August 18, 2025Whatever happens with Wicks, the Cubs still plan to have Matthew Boyd start game one tomorrow.
