ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A large-scale high-pressure system continues to dominate the northeast for the start the week. This has been a welcome change for Western New York with low humidity, bright sunshine, a light breeze and comfortable temperatures. This dome of high-pressure will slowly move east which will allow a weak low-pressure system to approach the central Great Lakes. As a result, the humidity will increase with the chance of rain increasing by late Tuesday into Wednesday.
The forecast is for partly cloudy skies tonight. It will be cool night with the temperature falling into the middle 50s. Tuesday will bring breaks of sun for the morning with increasing clouds for the afternoon. There will be the chance of a shower later in the afternoon. The high temperature will be near 80 degrees. Then just a few hit and miss showers possible again on Wednesday. The high temperature will be in the upper 70s.
The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists continue to track Hurricane Erin which is about 850 miles southwest of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Hurricane Erin is a strong category four hurricane with winds of 140 miles per hour. The hurricane is expected to become larger in the coming days, but the expected track of storm should keep it from reaching the mainland of the United States.
