This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Kelly Drayton.
Drayton is the Chapel Hill Emergency Management Director. She organized the town’s response to Tropical Storm Chantal this summer. During big events, the structure of town government shifts giving the emergency management team a great deal of responsibility. Most of Drayton’s job happens behind the scenes, but that’s where she especially shines, including organizing evacuations and hotels for the displaced to stay, catering, and more. But even outside of an emergency, Drayton is still going above and beyond for our town.
