GREELEY — Cue the Northern Colorado restaurant nostalgia — and get a chance to eat your favorite restaurant dish, too.
Whether you’re a Cables Pub & Grill (formerly known as Cables End) fan or a Big City Roadhouse enthusiast, you’ll get a chance to eat your favorite comfort food at the Cables Pub & Grill restaurant at 1923 59th Ave. The restaurant name is changing to Big City Roadhouse in about a month, and the menu will stay largely the same, said Cleta Yamauchi, who co-owns the two Big City Burrito locations in Fort Collins and Loveland, along with a food trailer, with husband Don Yamauchi.
Representatives of Cables Pub & Grill announced on social media that the restaurant would be closing in about a month. The new owners plan to keep the menu but also to add at least one of their signature California-style burritos to the line-up. A California-style burrito is one that has fried potatoes, Cleta Yamauchi said.
The new menu also will have pizza and wings, but the all-you-can eat spaghetti special may transition to a rotating daily special in the future, she said.
“We’re the lucky folks who get to take it over,” Cleta Yamauchi said. “It’s great comfort food and good vibes.”
Cables Pub & Grill also has a location in Fort Morgan, and that restaurant will remain open.
Cleta Yamauchi said she and her husband worked through a restaurant broker to search for Greeley locations after hearing from customers that they wanted a Greeley restaurant.
Most of the Cables staff is staying on, including him, said Joel Price, the restaurant’s general manager.
Cables opened in 1972 and has been family-owned and operated since 1979, according to an announcement on Instagram.
“We are forever grateful for the support of the Greeley community and letting us be a part of your lives over the years! Official closing date will be announced soon so please come see us to have one last meal before we say goodbye!” the Instagram post said. “Cheers to ‘Where Friends Meet!’”
