User Experience
The MagPod comes in an interestingly shaped box. It has an angle on one side that makes the box stand out. It has a large image of the product paired with bright orange colors on the outside to highlight the shape of the box and certain details of the MagPod. When you open the box, the MagPod is found housed inside a plastic mold. It lifts right out and is ready to use immediately. When I was in the midst of joining the FaceTime call I mentioned at the beginning of this review I ripped the box open quickly and tossed it aside so it didn’t appear in the video frame. Surprisingly enough, the box survived.
I set the MagPod on my desk, spread the legs out in one motion and gave the head a twist so that my phone would be at the ideal angle for me while I was on this video call. There’s no super fine-tuning, but you can turn the head or neck to the angle you want and it holds steady without slipping.
Stability is excellent too. I didn’t have any issues with the MagPod tipping over while I was using it for that call and I’ve used it several times since then. The non-slip feet do their job well, and it handles heavier phones like the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max without tipping. Switching between stand and handle mode is quick and simple.
