HENRIETTA, N.Y. — New York State Police is investigating a crash and car fire that happened Friday morning on the Thruway.
The Henrietta Fire Department said it was around 6:30 a.m. on I-90 West. Crews found a car flipped upside down and on fire at the scene. The driver got out of the car before crews got there, and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Fire officials say drivers passing by the crash pulled over and helped the driver initially.
The driver was the only one inside the car during the crash.
Crews got the fire under control quickly, but want to remind passerbys to only pull over for a crash when it’s safe to do so.
We don’t know what caused the crash. The NYSP is currently investigating, so this story will be updated when we learn more.
