After Geraldo Perdomo was called out on strikes on a pitch below the zone to lead off the ninth, Lovullo came out of the dugout knowing he’d get the hook. Bench coach Jeff Banister took over as acting manager.
The dugout was particularly animated in the seventh inning, as Adrian Del Castillo was called out on a pitch that was well low to end the inning and strand two runners. Tyler Locklear was agitated on a 3-2 pitch just off the outside corner that was called strike three in the eighth inning, and the Perdomo call was the final straw for Lovullo.
Lovullo has been ejected three times this season and 23 times during his tenure as Arizona’s skipper.

Marte came up to bat after Perdomo, and he crushed a 1-2 sweeper 445 feet off Rangers lefty Danny Coulombe.
It was Marte’s 22nd home run of the season, and he finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
The Diamondbacks needed a jolt after a night of struggling with runners on base (1-for-11 with runners in scoring position). Blaze Alexander hit a solo shot in the third inning and Marte beat out an infield single to score a run in the seventh inning.
Arizona (58-62) received a critical performance from the bullpen after Anthony DeSclafani was pulled after three innings and two earned runs.
Jake Woodford (3.1 IP), Jalen Beeks (1.2 IP) and Morillo (1 IP) shut out the Rangers (61-60) for six innings.
Pitcher Jack Leiter threw five innings with one earned run for the Rangers.
