The Farmers' Almanac has been predicting long-range weather forecasts for more than 200 years, and with another winter slowly on the way, the almanac released its 2025 to 2026 winter forecast.

According to the Farmers' Almanac, the country will see "dramatic swings and widespread wintry weather," with some areas across the United States possibly getting snow as soon as September and cold snaps in mid-January and February.

The almanac describes the forecast as “chill, snow, repeat.”

In Colorado, which the almanac considers the north-central U.S., it's predicted to be a "classic winter wonderland" and will be "very cold, snowy." While it's considered to be chilly, the almanac said the coldest temperatures will be in the Northern Plains and New England.

According to FOX31's Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Travis Michels, the forecast shows that it will be a warmer fall in Colorado, with temperatures getting cooler heading into 2026. Precipitation will be fairly normal, with a little more at the start of the year.

Michels said there's more snow expected for the Pacific Northwest and a good amount around the Great Lakes and upper Midwest.

While the forecasts are showing an average winter in Colorado with some cool temperatures, Michels said it's too far out to accurately forecast, so people should stay tuned to the Pinpoint weather team heading into the winter months.
