After shuttering its longtime riverboat casino along the Des Plaines River, Hollywood Casino’s new facility will officially open to the public on Monday.
The $185 million land-based property at the Interstate 80 and Interstate 55 interchange features approximately 1,000 slots and 43 live table games, including high-limit slots and table games, a baccarat room and an ESPN BET sportsbook, according to a news release from the casino’s parent company, Penn Entertainment.

Quicker bites can be found at the Boulevard Food and Drink Hall, which will feature Chicago-area establishments Antique Taco and Pretty Cool Ice Cream, along with a midcentury modern-designed bar and a new burger concept called Lucky Goat from prominent Chicago chef and owner of Girl and the Goat, Stephanie Izard.
Other amenities at the property include an approximately 10,000 square foot event center with meeting areas and approximately 1,330 parking spaces. Hollywood Casino closed its riverboat location after 30 years in late July.
Local leaders hope to turn the area into an entertainment hub for families of all ages as seen in early renderings provided to NBC Chicago. The casino is part of Rock Run Collection, which is billed as “a super-regional commercial and residential development.”
“The reality is when you look at this situation because they’re appealing to so many different demographics and they’re appealing to many different types of businesses,” Dr. Brian A. Thompson, professor of economics at DePaul University, told NBC Chicago last week. “It’s not just the casino, it’s also other retailers that will surround the casino, potential housing, which is certainly in demand at this point in time.”
