Samson has been the captain for the last 5 seasons, leading them to the 2022 IPL Final and the playoffs 3 more times. While it is clear that the 30-year-old still wants to leave the franchise, it is not due to differences between him and the team as reported before. Royals were confident of keeping hold of their star earlier, but push might come to shove and a move could materialize.
Samson is India’s T20I opener and has 3 centuries in the last 12 months. On his day, Samson is a game winner alongside being an astute leader. Samson is under contract with RR until 2027 and they could ideally hold on to him till the next mega auction. However, it is unlikely that Royals hold on to him when he is adamant on an exit.
