ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Some of the music icons of your youth are coming together for one show in Rochester. The “ROC Fest: I Love the 90’s Tour featuring Tacos and Tequila” is set for September 6 at the Rochester Community Sports Complex.

The lineup includes Vanilla Ice, Young MC and Color Me Badd. But when the show was first announced, some people on Reddit started questioning if the music fest was real. They couldn’t find the Rochester date listed on the websites of the I Love the 90’s Tour or Vanilla Ice.

So we started looking into it and reached out to the promoters.

“You can’t control what’s out there online, as we see in our world every single day,” said Lance Cardoza, vice president of Capital International Productions which puts on Tacos and Tequila events around the country. “That’s why we need reliable sources like News10.”

Cardoza admits there may have been some confusion when the date wasn’t immediately added to the website after it was announced.

“It’s a constant game of chess making sure all your ducks are in a row — from promoter, your artist, to be able to get the show off,” Cardoza said. “Yeah, so they had some oversight where they didn’t have it on the website, but they’re definitely coming and it’s gonna be a great show.”

The Rochester date is now listed on the touring website. News10NBC also checked with the City of Rochester, which owns the sports complex, and a spokesperson confirms the venue is booked for the event on September 6.

Rashad Smith, chief publicist for ROC Fest, says the event is definitely happening.

“RocFest is real. RocFest is happening,” Smith said. “There will be a ton of 90’s vibes.”

Smith points out that some of the proceeds from the event will benefit four local non-profits.

“We’re super excited about the line-up, but more importantly, we’re super excited about mixing entertainment with the opportunity to impact our community and local non profit organizations,” Smith said.

So when it comes to the inaugural ROC Fest, bust a move over to the soccer stadium for your favorite hits from the 90’s because that event is coming. That’s a fact.

Tickets for the show start at $65 plus fees. There are also VIP and package rates for larger groups. For more details about the show, click here.
