ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Wildfire smoke continues to cause unhealthy air quality conditions across the area today. Forecasted AQI is 110, which is a little lower than the morning readings. Young children, older adults, and those with preexisting heart/lung conditions should limit strenuous outdoor activities. Other than that, it will be warm and a bit more humid today, with temps maxing out in the mid 80s and a good chance of afternoon/evening thunderstorms bringing some much needed rain. Storms are not expected to be severe, so we stay Green on the Threat Tracker.
Several more days of smoke concern, warm temperatures, and dry conditions follow, with weekend temperatures reaching above 90 degrees. Humidity remains tolerable over that timeframe, then a front will eventually pass early to mid next week which will bring some more thunderstorms. Temperatures are expected to remain above normal over the next 6-10 days.
