ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The man accused of attacking a nurse at Highland Hospital last month, Robert White, refused to attend his pre-trial hearing scheduled for this afternoon.
White has been indicted on at least one felony, keeping him in custody. He faces two counts of assault in the second degree.
The case has been waived to the grand jury, officials said.
“The case is still being considered by the grand jury. They were able to vote at least. One felony is the as the judge placed on the record today. So this court’s been divested of its jurisdiction, pending further action of the grand jury,” said the assistant district attorney.
During a preliminary investigation, police found the victim, a woman in her 60s, was attacked while walking to her car. Police said the attack seemed related to her being a nurse at the hospital and a situation involving other staff and a patient shortly before the attack.
White has another pre-trial hearing scheduled for Tuesday for a separate local case. He is also charged with assault and harassment for an attack on two apartment building security guards back in January.
