Jajpur: A 26-year-old man was arrested by police in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in Dasarathpur block.
The accused has been identified as Alekh Malik.
Malik, who was visiting relatives in the village, reportedly lured the girl to a nearby market on Sunday under the pretext of buying her chocolates, where he assaulted her before returning her home.
The girl’s family grew suspicious when she complained of pain while urinating and recounted the incident. When confronted, Malik’s relatives allegedly attacked the victim’s family, leading them to contact the police.
Following a complaint from the victim’s father, police registered a case, arrested Malik, and admitted the girl to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. Further investigation is ongoing, as per sources.
