The False Nikola Vucevic Rumor, Ayo Dosunmu’s Block Party, Matas Talks Soccer, and Other Bulls Bullets ...Middle East

Hour 738 of Josh Giddey Watch …

As the NBA enters its dead period, a few folks have taken some liberties. We all know those aggregator accounts on social media that embellish reports and twist words. They can be particularly deadly during a quiet time like this, when fans do not have much to sink their teeth into. I often try to avoid those accounts altogether and go right to the source. Yes, I understand that we also share/compile a lot of information from outside sources (especially in these morning posts), but I like to think we are very mindful about how we share that information and how often we encourage you to view the original source. Likewise, we share with the intent of providing our own thoughts/commentary. Anyhow, all of this to say that I seemingly missed the bad aggregation out there regarding the Nikola Vucevic situation. Jake Fischer recently made a comment on a Bleacher Report livestream about how he believes a buyout could be more likely than a trade for Vucevic this upcoming season. According to K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network, some people spun that into saying that a buyout for the big man is imminent! That’s why the long-time Bulls Insider made sure to rebuff those rumors and stress that Chicago has no plans to buy him out at the moment. For what it’s worth, we also surmised as much when addressing Fischer’s comment in our post last week. The Bulls typically avoid buyouts, and we all know this front office tends to get high on its own supply. They will likely remain confident that they can find a trade partner for the veteran. Ayo Dosunmu held his fourth annual Block Party this week! The hometown kid has made it a summer tradition to throw a celebration for local kids looking for a safe place to play hoops and enjoy the fresh air. This year’s event was held at Chicago’s Union Park near the United Center and welcomed 200 children. Each year, Dosunmu has brought the event to a different Chicago neighborhood.

“What people don’t know about me, being from Chicago, is I literally hit all areas. From South Side, East Side, West Side, the Low End – a lot of different areas of Chicago,” Dosunmu told Bulls dot com. “So, it’s only right that I touch each and every neighborhood in Chicago because that’s a part of me.”

A couple of teammates also made sure to show up for Dosunmu’s big day. Matas Buzelis, who has been seen plenty alongside Dosunmu this summer, and Patrick Williams were both spotted at the event. Julia Poe documented the festivities and spoke with Dosunmu for an article with the Chicago Tribune. I highly encourage you to give that a read to learn more!

— Julia Poe (@byjuliapoe) July 31, 2025 Dosunmu’s busy week continued with a stop at Soldier Field for the Premier League Summer Series! I know the NBA can be a ruthless business, but it sure feels like the Bulls do not have plans to get rid of Dosunmu any time soon. Aside from Buzelis, nobody has been promoted more this summer than the Morgan Park alum.

Speaking of which, Buzelis also stopped by the event! The Bulls’ youngster spoke with Sky Sports about his favorite team to watch, which seemed to draw quite the reaction from the broadcasting team!

Make sure you’re following along, as the rumors are starting to get pretty darn juicy for the Cubs. Luis has an update on Jaylen Johnson’s status for Week 1. The Bears need him out there!
