Drees & Sommer to design €611m R&D centre in Málaga ...Middle East

News by : (GCR) -
German consultant Drees & Sommer has been appointed design partner for a €611m advanced semiconductor R&D facility and utility buildings for digital technology firm Imec in Málaga, Spain.

The project is part funded by the Spanish government and the EU, and is led by Spanish state-owned engineering firm Ineco.

Housing cleanroom labs and offices, the 32,000-sq-m campus in Málaga TechPark is expected to create around 250 jobs once operational.

The architectural concept is still being developed, but Drees & Sommer said the design would minimise emissions, energy and water use.

Imec regional managing director Karel van Gils said the campus would be “a truly human-centric workplace”.
