The 32-year-old was said to be quiet for the majority of the meeting.
He then grew increasingly frustrated when the finances of the game were discussed.
The ESPN report claims Harper told the MLB boss that players “are not scared to lose 162 games.”
Harper then apparently walked towards the middle of the room to face Manfred.
And he allegedly said, “If you want to speak about that, you can get the f*** out of our clubhouse.”
Manfred is said to have replied that he’s “not going to get the f*** out of here.”
According to the report, Harper and Manfred shook hands when the conversation ended.
The MLB boss declined to comment on the matter to ESPN.
Harper’s teammate Nick Castellanos confirmed there was an exchange in the clubhouse.
“It was pretty intense, definitely passionate,” Castellanos told ESPN.
“Both of ’em. The commissioner giving it back to Bryce and Bryce giving it back to the commissioner.
“That’s Harp. He’s been doing this since he was 15 years old. It’s just another day. I wasn’t surprised.”
Harper was asked about the incident on Monday.
“I won’t be getting into the details of what happened or how I felt or anything else like that,” he said.
“I don’t think it does any good for anybody for that to happen.
“So, for me, I just, you know, trying to worry about baseball, trying to worry about everything in here.”
